London Morning Commute

October 29th, 2009

I have to laugh at my morning commute sometimes…otherwise I would cry.

Thursday 29th Oct:

Didn’t get on a train until the 3rd one today. Thought I had got myself a good spot on the otherside of the pole…but no…got pushed into a space that didnt exsist, by a rather large girl that was whinging about being pushed….loose some weight! I am only small and people think it is ok to push me into a space where I have to bend in a funny way

Got on the tube next and squeezed on, but no luck in getting near a pole to hold on to. Had to balance in the middle, and when the train pulls into the station I wobble into the person next to me who shoves me out of the way…Stop hogging the pole Bitch and I wouldn’t fall into you!

Monday 2nd Nov:
Wow got to love those people that ‘get taken ill’ on the train. On my way home, I had a slow walker infront of me so couldn’t run to get onto the train. The result of this slow walker… I had to wait 30 minutes for the next train because of the ill person…brilliant! One ill person backed up every train coming in and out of Waterloo, which meant I had to squeeze onto an already packed train and have some women say to me ‘there is no room’ I know that but could you move your prissy little arse and let me squeeze on….I want to get home to!

Tuesday 3rd Nov:
Another lovely commute….trains must have had a delay somewhere, no doubt because of some leaves on the tracks. Took 3 trains before I got on and had to bend into an odd shape to get on.

Next I get to the tube again really busy, but I had to laugh otherwise I might have cried!! Then I had some entertainment on the train…some guy having a go at any person that lent into him…get over yourself…he had a yellow tie on as well!

Wednesday 4th Nov:
Nothing happened to me today, but I did over hear a conversation that made me laugh. It went something like:
Imagine a packed rush hour tube.
Pregnant Women: ‘Excuse me, could you move over slightly, I need some space’
Big man carrying to bags, taking up the space of 3 people: ‘Why? I don’t have much space either, and there is nothing wrong with you, you’re not ill!’
Pregnant Women: ‘Yes, but I am carrying and you have space next to you’
Big Man: Silence
Big Man: ‘Look woman, don’t make me feel like an idiot, why don’t you ask for a seat then?’
Pregnant Women: silence.

I mean what an idiot that man made himself look.

Office Space has just pulled me out of the pit I was sinking into.

How many clothes is to many?

May 11th, 2009

I had one of those rare moments at the weekend. I decided to sort my wardrobe out. I say wardobe, when what I mean is wardrobe, hall closet, chest of drawers and any other space that I can squeeze some clothes into.

The main reason for my cleanse was because I didn’t have anything to wear.

Well 19 vest tops, 13 cardigans, 6 jumpers, 16 tops, 17 skirts, 6 pairs of jeans, 3 pairs of trouses, 7 pairs of shorts, 4 gym bottms, 2, gym jumpers, 3, gym tops, 3 pairs of tracksuit bottoms, 4, pj bottoms, 2 pj tops, 1 football top, 16 coats, 3 legginga and 46 dresses later I realised I had plenty to wear.

That is 171 items of clothing and looks somthing like this

171 Clothes

And this

171 Items of Clothing

Having established that I had plenty to wear, but not a lot that I actually wanted to wear, I went through my piles of clothes. I ruthlessly got rid of everything that I had not worn (and still had labels in them), was not going to wear again and had holes in. This turned out to be 5 bin bags of unwanted clothes.

What I ended up with was this

clothes-after

And this

clothes-after-1

That is 7 vest tops, 5 cardigans, 0 jumpers, 5 tops, 2 skirts, 2 pairs of jeans, 0 pairs of trousers, 2 pairs of shorts, 2 gym bottms, 1, gym jumpers, 2, gym tops, 2 pairs of tracksuit bottoms, 1, pj bottoms, 1 pj tops, 1 football top, 11 coats, 1 leggings and 19 dresses.

Could have probaly got rid of a bit more but it is much better.

I know what clothes I have and what I need to replace. Note how I said replace and not buy more of.

It really is a wonderful feeling not needing to buy random items of clothing. All I need to do is replace my skinny jeans and my blazer jacket.

Next I need to tackle my shoes!?!

New Look Gorgeous Spring / Summer Dresses

April 16th, 2009

I never used to be a big fan of New Look, I don’t really know why I’m not sure why, but I think that my views are changing.

New Look for the past couple of season has had some great stuff and I find myself buying from them more and more.

Welcome to icklekaskas.co.uk

March 29th, 2009

icklekaskas.co.uk has arrived!

As much as I love to read all the fashion blogs, many of them leave me feeling a little depressed.  I can’t afford all the lovely clothes they parade in front of me, which led me to start looking elsewhere.

I started spending far to much money on the fashion / celebrity magazines, looking for my fix!  This failed so I went back online looking for the equivalent of a weekly magazine online.  Don’t get me wrong they are there, but don’t excatly have the feel I was looking for.  Look magazine online doesn’t have the same feel as the magazine and so I find myself leaving dissapointed. asos is great for my browse fix but if I want to see what the other shops are selling I have to go looking.

So this in short is what has left me to write my own blog about fashion, clothes, brands and anything else that takes my fancy.

I should say that I very rarely go shopping on the high street, for a couple of reaons, I hate queues, I hate it when I find something I like and then can’t find my size and I hate the changing rooms and I always over spend!  Shopping online is so much nicer.  I don’t over spend as I always check what I have added to basket and get rid of a few items.  Lastly I love the feeling I get when I have a parcel delivered to my door.  The new problem I have with shopping online is that it’s so easy!

This blog will be dedicated to shopping online and I will give you my opinion on the best places to shop and the expeirence I have had from purchase to delivery.

I will only be buying the affordable and when I say affordable I mean on average one item will not cost more than £30 because in my head most clothes are not worth that much more, unless (and yes there is an exception) it’s one of those items that you look at everyday and stop yourself from buying it and then leave it to late to discover its gone.

Lastly enjoy and if you find any sites worth taking a look at along the way let me know.
